The Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf has unquestionably some of the best fishing in the world considering the close proximity to Auckland city.

The target species Snapper, Trevally, Kahawai, John Dory, and Yellow Tail Kingfish all move into the inner harbour over the summer months thus enabling anglers such as yourselves some of the best fishing available all within twenty minutes of Auckland city. During the winter months as the water temperature cools the fish move a little further out to the inner gulf islands and reef structures that make up our beautiful coastline.

Doctor Hook 2 was constructed in 2005 and is a Hamilton designed Marlborough J 28.
The Marlborough 28 was primarily designed as a work boat for the rough waters around the South Island and Chatham Islands of New Zealand.

Originally designed in the mid 1970’s the Marlborough 28’s can still be seen plying these waters and still going strong.
Doctor Hook 2 has the latest electronic common rail engine from Cummins. The Cummins QSB 5.9 litre puts out 380hp and is coupled to a Hamilton jet which gives Doctor Hook 2 a top speed of 35knts.

Doctor Hook 2 has is licensed for 10 passengers and has an all weather cabin and flush toilet.
The boat and skipper and all Safety Equipment have passed all Maritime Safety Authority standards.
